Description: If you like planning and executing projects, managing resources and timelines, and communicating with stakeholders this course is for you.  A Project Manager plans, coordinates, and delivers projects on time and within budget. They manage resources, risks, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful project outcomes.

This course is geared to give the Precinct Chair the basic understanding of how to put together a fundable Project (such as Event planning).

One of the most critical parts of the project development process is planning your project. In HCRP, the most common form of project is an Event.  The more specific your plans, the better your proposals and chances of success will be. One day spent planning will save 10 days in execution, as well as resources and expenses.

When organizations do not plan their projects well enough in advance, they often find either that they cannot deliver what they have promised – or that they have promised a project that meets the interests of the donor (if any) more than the interests of the organization.

Your SD’s senior staff should be able to identify your Region’s top priority programs/projects. These may already be outlined in a strategic plan.  Once you have information on what the projects are, you need to ask and answer a series of questions about how they will be implemented and what their impact will be. The answers to these questions could come from your Region’s senior management and/or program staff. It is the job of the development staff to present the programs to donors in compelling ways.  This is the crust of this course.

The SPG Project Management series is divided into three main pillars of Project Management courses, Conceive, Establish and Conduct.  In this course, "Conceive", you will learn a tried and proven step-by-step technique to define your project culminating with a project profile geared toward success.

This Core course will provide the foundation of knowledge to get you started within the HCRP.
